Shallotte Middle School, don't get me started with this school please, I was a student here last year.. Let's say it wasn't the best thing. I felt uncomfortable to go to school every day, the teachers lost my assignments I turned in, overloaded with homework. Even sometimes the teachers would lie to me. I advise you not to go to this school, and whatever you do don't get in trouble or they will be calling you every day to the counselors office and you explained everything you could. The gym system?! Don't get me started with that.. It is mandatory to dress out but you barley do anything in gym. The boys lockeroom is in a terrible condition. The floor is practically dirt. Kids are saying they want to beat eachother up in there. Its a mess. Bullying takes place at SMS. A lot.. I was also in band, Band was fine I certainly liked the teacher she helped me whenever I struggled. Now, about 20% of these kids who go to SMS get ISS. You may think thats a good thing right?! Well the parents run the school, if a parent complains on you.. BOOM! ISS, You most likely won't have a chance of telling your side of the story. Walking into SMS made me feel scared, wondering if I was going to get called into the counselors office for something I did a long time ago or going through a painful gym period. Well, some of the teachers are really nice but some not so much. Some teachers overload you with homework. Some give none. Its great that here at SMS they reward the kids for PBIS or getting on the honor roll! Just be ready for SMS, I'd advise to not mess around with anyone or you are going to wind up with 2 days of OSS. I'd advise not to bother the teachers as even if you did nothing they could bring you to the behavior specialist. Also I'd warn you that the gym coaches are drill sergeants. Be ready for 3 terrible years of your life that you'll never forget. They could also be great years you get to choose. Good Luck if you are a 6th grader going to SMS
